How the AT Score works

One score, the same for every account, with the formula in the open. Version 3.4, 20 October 2026.

The five parts

PartWeightWhat it measures
Skill20%Daily Sharpe ratio, a year's worth: 1 gives 39, 2 gives 63, 3 gives 78.
Return per risk20%Yearly return divided by max drawdown (Calmar).
Drawdown25%Worst of closed, floating and equity drawdown. 10% or less = 100, 60% or more = 0.
Worst day15%Biggest one-day loss in % of the account. 5% or less = 100, 50% or more = 0.
Consistency20%Share of green trading days, and the last 60 days against the whole record.

Open positions count: floating profit or loss is part of the return and the drawdown.

Adjustments

How much to trust a score

Score = trust × result + (1 − trust) × 40. Trust grows with trading days: days ÷ (days + 40).

Trading daysTrustHow we read it
Under 5noneNo score yet. The board median is shown, marked “projected”.
1020%Mostly the starting value of 40.
4050%Half result, half starting value.
120 (about 6 months)75%The score starts to mean something.
250 (about 1 year)86%Mostly the account's own result.

The score counts trading days, not the number of trades. An account with 5,000 trades in 10 days is still a 10-day record.

Martingale and grid detection, stress tests on today's open lots, return against holding gold, and luck correction for many robots. Each new version is logged here.

Where the data comes from

Each account reports straight from MetaTrader through AlgoTrade Connect: every closed deal, deposit and withdrawal, plus balance, equity and open positions on every update. Nobody types numbers in by hand. The board rebuilds within about 20 seconds of each report.

Gain: time-weighted

Gain shows how well the account traded, not how much money was added. Deposits and withdrawals never count as gain.

  1. For each trading day: daily return = closed profit of the day ÷ (balance at the start of the day + money deposited that day).
  2. Daily returns are compounded: Gain = (1 + r1) × (1 + r2) × … × (1 + rn) − 1.

If the owner sets a reference capital in AlgoTrade Connect, daily profit is divided by that fixed amount instead.

Example

DayStart balanceDepositClosed profitDaily return
1$1,000–+$5050 ÷ 1,000 = +5.00%
2$1,050$1,000+$4141 ÷ 2,050 = +2.00%
3$2,091–−$30−30 ÷ 2,091 = −1.43%

Gain = 1.05 × 1.02 × 0.9857 − 1 = +5.56%. The $1,000 deposit on day 2 adds money, not gain.

Today, week, month, year

Period figures use the same daily returns, compounded from the first broker day of the period (Monday for the week, the 1st for the month, 1 January for the year) to today. Days follow the broker's server time, so every account is cut at its own market close.

Drawdown: four views, the worst one shown

Drawdown is the drop from the highest point to the lowest point that came after it. We track it four ways, and the board shows the worst of them, so the risk is never hidden.

TypeHow it is measured
Closed DDDrop on the compounded gain curve built from closed trades, day by day.
Floating DDLargest open loss seen on any update, in % of capital.
Equity DDDrop on equity (balance + credit + open profit or loss), checked on every update, time-weighted so deposits and withdrawals do not move it. When the full history is available, AlgoTrade Connect rebuilds it from the deals and the broker's own price bars.
Earlier recordA drawdown from before live tracking began, entered by AlgoTrade from the account's earlier record.

Max DD on the board = the largest of the four. Floating and equity DD show the date they were first tracked, so you always know the period they cover.

Example

The gain curve goes +10%, then the account loses 20% of that peak, then makes back 5%. The curve reads 1.10 → 0.88 → 0.924. Drawdown = 1 − 0.88 ÷ 1.10 = 20%, even though the account is only 7.6% below its start.

Insights: checked day by day

Insights find the part of an account that costs money, for example one weekday, one side or one symbol. To prove an insight works, we replay it point in time:

Gain, drawdown and AT Score are then rebuilt for both cases and shown next to the real record. See it on a live account: Insights.
